Your Journey Therapy
Providing therapy to children, adolescents, teens, young adults, and families.
Beneath every behavior is a feeling, And beneath every feeling is a need rather than focus on a behavior, we begin to deal with the cause and not the symptom.-Ashleigh Warner
ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY THERAPY
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) deeply invested in creating inclusive, empowering spaces, I am here to support you on your journey toward self-discovery and healing. Operating out of the Midwest, I have the privilege of serving individuals in Illinois, North Dakota, Virginia and Mississippi that reflects my commitment to expanding my reach and support. My approach is rooted in the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), two powerful modalities that equip us to understand and transform thought patterns as well as emotional responses. I genuinely believe that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all experience; rather, it should be as unique and vibrant as the individuals who come through my door. Together, we will craft a personalized treatment plan that embraces your specific therapeutic wants, needs and strengths, ensuring that you feel seen, heard, and validated in every session. Creating an environment of trust and safety is paramount to me, especially as an ally of the LGBTQ+ community. I strive to cultivate a welcoming atmosphere where everyone can explore their identities and experiences without fear of judgment. Your journey is important, and I am here to guide you through it, meeting you at whatever stage you find yourself. Let’s embark on this empowering path together, working collaboratively to unlock your potential and foster resilience. You deserve to take control of your healing process, and I am honored to accompany you every step of the way. Reach out today, and let's start this transformative journey together.
My Story
After 20 years of navigating the ups and downs of life together. Standing side by side with my husband, a retired firefighter and paramedic, always reminds me of life’s unpredictability and the profound bond that emerges from both chaos and calm. The gentle ticking away of time and the arrival of our beautiful children, our lives shifted and redefined our aspirations. The joyous arrival of four kids, including our delightful twins, filled our home to the brim. Three high-energy boys and one spirited girl bursting with personality would soon fill every moment of our lives with chatter, laughter, and the occasional bout of chaos. As we unpacked our lives as a family, it became clear that my role would morph. The space was too small for both an adrenaline-fueled career and a family in full swing. With a lump in my throat, I stepped back from EMT life and worked full-time as an office manager at a dental practice. Though I opted for school hours filled with muffins, bake sales, and refereeing stilts made of couch cushions, that fiery spirit still dances within me, often seen through our two dogs, who I affectionately consider my surrogate therapy team. Their wagging tails and comforting presence make me dream of the day when I can add a certified therapy dog to our ranks. Just envision the warmth and joy they would bring, becoming anchors of emotional support for our kids as they navigate the rollercoaster of adolescence.

\Walk and Talk group
Reconnecting with Nature:
Summer Camp
A unique therapy group offers a transformative experience combining walking, mindfulness, and creative self-expression to help individuals reconnect with themselves, nature, and others. Research shows that spending time in nature benefits mental health by reducing anxiety, enhancing mood, and promoting well-being. Walking improves physical health and emotional regulation, while connection with others fosters emotional resilience through shared experiences and support. This group is designed for adults 18+ facing challenges like anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress management, or parenting-related stress. It offers mindfulness practices, unconventional journaling techniques, and various art forms to explore self-care and self-compassion, with no prior writing or art experience required. Join us at the Hampshire Forest Preserve, located at 44W780 Allen Rd., Hampshire, IL, for a journey of self-discovery and healing. Starting Wednesday, October 9th at 10:30 AM, this open group of 10 participants will explore new forms of release and understanding amidst the breathtaking natural backdrop. Each session costs $40, which can be billed to insurance, or a sliding scale is available for those in need. Walking outdoors, mindfulness, and creative expression can be pivotal in managing life’s struggles. Remember, there’s no right or wrong way to explore your feelings—just a supportive community.
